Day 2: Compassion Devotional
Devotional: Compassion begins with seeing and feeling the pain of others. Jesus exemplified this in His ministry, especially in Luke 13:10-13, where He healed a woman who had been disabled for 18 years. He saw her pain, felt it, and responded with mercy. As followers of Christ, we are called to do the same. We must open our eyes to the suffering around us and let it move us to action.
Verse: When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, ‘Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.’ Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. – Luke 13:12-13
Question: What steps can you take to become more aware of the pain and suffering around you?
Quote: We have got to get to the place as followers of Christ, you and me, we have got to be where we can see pain, we can feel that pain. We can respond to it.
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see the pain of those around me. Help me to feel their suffering and be moved to act with compassion. Amen.
